Crisp Malt

Visiting our neighbours along the Wensum and understanding how we can better work together is always a positive and productive use of our time.

Crisp Malt were kind enough to offer the Wensum Farmers a tour around their site. The aims being to better understand the malting process and to appreciate the lengths that Crisp’s go to to protect the local environment.

The stringent malt process starts from the weighbridge at entry, with tests for moisture content, bug infestations and germination quality; we also saw the robotic packing plant, the towering storage silos and the water clean up tanks.

We spoke to the team about ways in which we could collaborate in the future and ended with being hosted for tea and biscuits in the old chapel building where discussions about exciting possible projects took place.

A huge thank you to all those at Crisp’s who helped this tour take place, and to the Wensum Farmers who turned up and wore such beautiful, bright attire with good grace!
