Did you know one of the primary manufacturers of muck spreaders and pallet inverters sits snugly next to a community pub on a quiet village green in the heart of the upper Wensum catchment?
A fascinating evening with some of the team at Bunnings, Gressenhall. We were shown the production processes from start to finish, it was clear to see the care and love that goes into every machine, from the humble starting point of a sheet of British steel, through to the astounding paint rooms and specialised Bunnings finishing touches.
A short historical context was provided and we were treated to an impressive piece of kit that was purchased by the Bunnings family in 1919, and is still in use today!

The level of investment being pumped into the site was also apparent with roofs being fitted with photovoltaic panels currently, a recent installation of a new substation to ease the pressure on the national grid and new technology to aid all stages of production being continuously upgraded.
The Wensum Farmers were asking lots of specific agricultural engineering questions and were engaged in all parts of the tour, with one of my favourite statistics being that when the augers are balanced, they run so smoothly you can balance a pound coin on the end and it wont fall even (even at full rotational speed!)
A big thank you to the team at Bunning for being so welcoming and allowing us to view your facility. A great evening had by all.
